Anna Belle Lane

Anna Belle Lane, age 71, of Dwight, Kansas passed away July 19, 2023, in her home from heart related complications.

Anna was born August 21, 1952, in Tollhouse, California. After attending and graduating from University of California, Davis, she embarked on fulfilling her life’s passion of educating the future generations. Along her life’s journey she met and married James Richard Lane (d) in California. After having children, Richard and Annamarie, she and Jim decided to move the family to Kansas where they each lived out their days. Anna is survived by two children and three grandchildren: Richard Lane with R.J. Lane, Elijah Lane, and Raylan Lane of Olathe, Kansas and Annamarie Belle Lane of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Throughout Anna’s life, her most important treasures were her family and friends. She was an extremely personable and giving individual, whom many have always had fond memories of. Along with culturing lasting friendships she was extensively active in animal husbandry. Many of her years were spent on the back of a horse, showing and working cattle on the family farm. After downsizing she became involved with showing and breeding Shetland Sheepdogs, which she was successful with up until her death.

A memorial service will be held at Sawyer Funeral Home 137 N Union St, Council Grove, KS 66846, at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 27th. After which a private grave service will be held by the family at Fort Scott National Cemetery. All are welcome to attend the memorial service so we may all share the ways Anna was special to us.
