Carolyn’s life began on August 12, 1949, at Newman Hospital in Emporia. She is the daughter of Kelcie and Evelyn (Cowles) Harder. Carolyn attended college at Emporia State University where she received her MRS degree when she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dwight Reust, on August 3, 1968, at the Emporia Church of the Nazarene. Carolyn enjoyed serving the church as a Sunday school teacher and junior church leader alongside her husband. Carolyn loved flowers, gardening, quilting, fishing, hunting, and shucking walnuts on her beloved farm. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Dwight of Council Grove; her children Christy Reust of Burns, Dwayne (Maria) Reust of Reece, Carrie (Gregg- dsc) Bohren of Lenexa, and Jeffrey Reust. Grandchildren Rebecka, Talon, Wyatt, Callum, Colton, Desarae, Alex, Meghan, Jeremy, Kenzie, Sullivan, and Lizzy; great grandchildren Trapper, Payson, Kyson, Dawson, Adelaide, Clementine, Willow, Violetta, Evangeline, Aiden, and Journey. Sisters; Vickie Nabors (Geary) of Assaria, KS and Dorothy Anderson (Bruce) of Vasser, KS. Carolyn and Dwight were parents to 54 Foster Children. Several nieces and nephews lovingly called her Auntie. Carolyn went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday February 11, 2023, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. She is preceded in death by her parents. Her family will gather with friends at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery in Bushong on Saturday, February 18th at 3pm to lay Carolyn to rest. Sawyer Chapel, Council Grove is serving the family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions to Carolyn’s Memorial fund be sent to Sawyer Funeral Home.
