Helen E. Grensing, native of Alta Vista and resident of Morris County Assisted Living, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2021.
Helen was born on October 21, 1931, in rural Alta Vista to Leonard and Mary “Esther” (Neal) Johnson. She graduated from Alta Vista High School and Kansas State University with a Master’s Degree in 1984. On, May 21, 1956, she married Roland Grensing, to this union, 3 children were born: Greg, Nancy and Suzann. She was a farmer/rancher, worked at K-State for 10 years, and a case manager at Area Agency for Aging for 6 years. Helen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta Vista, where she was a member of the LWML.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland in 1980, daughter; Suzann in 1983, son-in-law; Larry Egan in 2019, brother; Ben Johnson and sister; Kathryn Thowe. Helen is survived by her daughter; Nancy Egan of Mulvane, son; Greg Grensing wife Michelle of Murfreesboro, TN, brother; Art Johnson wife Betty, sister-in-law, Vona Diehl, grandchildren: Justin Nielson wife Christy of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Blain Egan, Mulvane, KS, Aubrey Gentry and Tryce Grensing of Murfreesboro, TN.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 am, with services starting at 10:00, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Alta Vista, KS. Interment will take place following the service at Alta Vista Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 303 Main St. Alta Vista, KS, 66834. Sawyer Funeral Home is serving the family.
