Janis Lu Bosch, long time Council Grove resident, and High School Home Economics Teacher passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Morris County Hospital, in Council Grove, Kansas, with family members by her side.
Janis was born October, 30th 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Kendall and Iva (Reed) Irving. She graduated from Russell High School, Russell, KS in 1948 and from the College of Emporia, Emporia Kansas with a Bachelor degree in Home Economics in 1952. A year later she married her college sweetheart, Lieutenant Commander- F. Paul Bosch. They lived in San Francisco California for a year where Paul served the balance of his Navy Active Duty. Returning to Kansas they made Council Grove, Kansas their home.
Janis expanded her education at College of Emporia with a Bachelors degree in Education to achieve her teaching certificate, then started her teaching career educating students at the Council Grove High School. She was also very supportive of husband F. Paul Bosch in family business including retail Furniture Store, Laundromats, investing and farming.
Her community involvement included serving on numerous boards, clubs and organizations. Janis was actively involved in Chapter H PEO, Council Oaks Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Morris County Historical Society, Score and Four, Ivy League Investment club, Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Sorority, and Member of the Council Grove/Dunlap United Methodist Church. Janis was a swimming instructor at the Life Center and dedicated Red Cross swimming instructor at the Council Grove Swimming Pool.
Janis was proceeded in death by husband, F. Paul Bosch of Council Grove, sister Sally (Jim) Smith and parents. She is survived by daughters Connie (Dr. Larry) Cooper of Abilene, KS, Terri (Robert deceased) Barnett of NYC, New York, Dr. Jody (Rick) Sellers of Council Grove, KS, and son Eric (Kim) Bosch of Kansas City, MO. Grandchildren are Christiana (Max) Schadegg, Wyatt Cooper, Tyler Sellers, Natalie (Josh) DeBoer, Captain Tanner (Christy) Bosch, and Parker (Maddy) Bosch, Troy, MO. Great-grandchildren are Hazel Schadegg, Cooper Schadegg, Lillian Cooper, Avery Bosch, and Lincoln Bosch, and nephew, Stuart and Steven Smith.
A Celebration of life Services will be held at 10:00 AM, February 7th 2022 at the Council Grove United Methodist Church.
A private grave side service at Greenwood Cemetery following the memorial service.
Visitation will be February 6th from 1 - 3 at the United Method Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Janis & Paul Bosch Scholarship Fund with the Council Grove Area Foundation.
