Vera Iola Wooldridge passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at Diversicare of Council Grove.
Vera was the daughter of Henry and Mary Brunner. She was born December 24th 1928 in Ramona, Kansas. Vera was one of six siblings. She attended Ramona High School and after graduation, Vera worked in a downtown boutique, where she met her future husband John D. Wooldridge. The two were married on May 3rd, 1951 and had one child, Michelle Marie Wangerin (Council Grove) in 1954.
Vera wore numerous hats throughout her time on this earth including a CNA, Seamstress at Paragon, manager of the Laundromat, working at Gambles, and one of her favorites, running the Prairie Pantry in Herington. One of the things Vera really enjoyed was baking, which was always a holiday hit. (Pies, Cauliflower Salad, Cabbage Biscuits, and Butterballs!)
Vera was always full of life and enjoyed time with her family. She was a very unique soul, and a joy in the lives of many, especially because of her spunk. Even in her 90’s she would enjoy the occasional motorcycle ride with her Grandson Shawn when he would visit. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she has touched.
Vera leaves behind her daughter Michelle Wangerin, grandchildren Shawn and Stephanie Wangerin, 5 great-grandchildren (Destiny, Allecia, Brooklynn, Jace, and Cameron) 1 great-great grandchild (Bradley), and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
